Our story begins a little over 50 years ago. Albertville Wood Products, Inc. is currently owned and operated by Steve and Amanda Allen. The business was started by Chester Bright, Steve’s Grandfather, in 1966. The business started with hauling sawdust and shavings from sawmills to chicken houses. Over the years, ownership shifted to Chester’s two daughters, Gayron Allen and Mary Ann Walker, along with their husbands Edward Allen and Buddy Walker. When this ownership merge was completed in 1988 the company operated as Allen and Walker Trucking. Allen and Walker Trucking ultimately made the decision to broaden its horizons into the pine bark industry a few years later. The company expansion brought an unexpected level of increased business that quickly outgrew their working capacity. Allen and Walker Trucking then decided to sell the sawdust and shavings portion to Chester’s youngest son, Rayburn Bright. This left the business handling pine bark products only. Which brings us to how Albertville Wood Products, Inc. operates today. Years passed, and brought with them many changes. Retirements, other interests and sadly even death brought the company into its current state and ownership. In 2015 the only remaining original partner of the company, Gayron, had her sights set on retirement and was diagnosed with lung cancer. Her son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Amanda Allen bought the business from her two months prior to her death in November, 2015. Both Gayron and Steve had a desire for the family business to remain just that…a family owned and operated business. Our office and yard is located in Albertville, Alabama.
And it is still that today, as Steve and Amanda Allen work alongside their youngest son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Carley Allen and a team of employees that are ready to take care of your pine product needs.
